Senior SQL Database Administrator

Job Description

  • Responsible for all aspects of Production MS SQL Server operations
  • Design, creation and maintenance of highly available and secure MS SQL Server database instances
  • Creation of databases and database objects such as tables, indexes, views and stored procedures
  • Design, implementation, maintenance and testing of MS SQL Server disaster recovery processes
  • Logical and physical database design
  • Proactively monitoring database and machine performance and troubleshoot database performance problems
  • Assist in overall database design and development of global projects
  • Implement proactive database maintenance jobs to ensure peak performance and recoverability
  • Design, implementation and maintenance of cross database data replication processes
  • Provide 24x7 support for database operations
  • Database Backup and Recovery
  • Database security Best Practices (referential integrity, authorization models, etc.)
  • Database tuning, monitoring, and maintenance
  • Stored procedure programming and SSIS package development
  • Design, model, develop, and implement databases based on Relational and Object-Oriented design models
  • Design and implement a process for deploying, upgrading, managing, archiving, and extracting data for various databases and the data warehouse
  • Work closely with the Development Team to optimize schema and performance
  • Standardize the use of services provided by Microsoft SQL
  • Provide rationale for decisions to the Technical Architect
  • Balance concerns of stakeholders (driving down technical risks and ensuring decisions are effectively communicated, validated, and followed)
  • Ensure standards and Best Practices used in database development are followed and maintained
 


 

REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor of Science in Computer Science (or related discipline)
Minimum 6 years related work experience with the following:
Direct support of MS SQL servers as the primary database administrator
Proven experience deploying and maintaining MS SQL Server in high availability clusters using Microsoft's clustering technology
Analysis, design and development experience using T-SQL and Microsoft .Net technologies
MS SQL Server DBA Certification (MCDBA)
Proven experience with Relational Data Modeling, Logical and Physical Database Design
Proven experience tuning MS SQL Server for optimal performance
Proven experience securing MS SQL Server
Proven experience deploying and maintaining reporting systems for both internal and external customers
Strong understanding of Microsoft products such as Windows 2003, Active Directory, Exchange and IIS
Ability to work closely with peers and team members in a collaborative manner
Excellent verbal and written communications skills

Beneficial Qualifications

  • MCSE on Windows 2003
  • Microsoft Certified Developer (MCPD, MCTS, MCAD, MCSD)
  • Proven experience with Microsoft .Net technologies (C#, ADO.Net, ASP.Net, Windows Forms)
