How do I upgrade the old version of Trend Micro PC-cillin Internet Security to the latest version of Trend Micro Internet Security?


Product: Trend Micro Internet Security - 2008, PC-cillin Internet Security - 2007, PC-cillin Internet Security - 2006
Operating System: Windows Vista, Windows XP - SP2, Windows Vista - SP1, Windows XP - SP3
 

Solution: To upgrade to Trend Micro Internet Security using the downloaded file , follow the steps below:

  1. Close all open programs and windows.

  2. Download the Trend Micro Internet Security installer file.

    Note: To download the installer file, you can refer your Order Confirmation email and look for the indicated download instructions. If you either lost or did not receive your Order Confirmation email, refer to the related link at the bottom of this article.

  3. On the File Download window, click on Save.

  4. The Save As window appears. Click on Desktop as the location and click on Save.

  5. Double-click the downloaded file to start the installation.

  6. This opens the InstallShield Wizard window.

  7. This also displays the Trend Micro Banner while the setup checks the computer’s system requirements and the competitor products installed.

  8. If the setup detects an older version of Trend Micro Internet Security installed, you will see this notification:

  9. Click Yes to proceed. This will automatically remove the previous versions of Trend Micro Internet Security.

  10. After the removal of the previous versions, the License Agreement window will appear. Read the contents of the License Agreement and click on I accept the terms in the License Agreement option.

  11. Click on Next to continue

  12. lick on the Install button to install Trend Micro Personal Firewall and disable both the Windows Firewall and Windows Defender (for Vista). This is done to prevent possible software conflict.

  13. The Trend Micro Anti-Spam toolbar for Microsoft Outlook will be activated by default.
  14. Once the setup is complete, you will be asked to restart your computer.

  15. Click on Next to restart your computer and finish the installation.
